Perinatal and Maternal Health in Occupational Therapy

Mentorship and Community for occupational therapy practitioners and students supporting mothers, parents and dyads

Becoming a mother changes occupations.

Motherhood involves substantial physical, physiological, hormonal, and social changes that reshape an individual's roles, routines, and daily activities. Despite this profound transformations, significant gaps are still present in maternal support and healthcare. Occupational Therapy has the potential to contribute to maternal health and perinatal care by addressing these gaps using a collaborative, and strength-based approach.

We are ecstatic over the growing interest and community around occupational therapy in maternal and perinatal health and are so incredibly proud to be part of it. We are regularly contacted by students and practitioners who want to know more about how they, themselves can get involved in this practice area and offer a few options for mentorship.
