Motherhood is a period of wonder, joy, and accomplishment. It can also be the hardest thing you will ever do. The most challenging parts are often the ones that take us most by surprise. Raising a human is a lot and sometimes we forget about ourselves. Whether it’s changes in mood, not enjoying motherhood as you thought you should, or anxiety that you can’t shake, no matter how hard you try, we can support you.

Perinatal Mood and Anxiety
The days and even months after having a baby can be rough, and sometimes even intolerable. When nothing seems to be working, and you don’t know what’s wrong, or you just have a feeling that something is off, we can help. Occupational therapists can screen for postpartum depression, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, and help you figure out what is going on, who we can bring on as part of your team of professionals, and ways to bring your life back into focus.

Self Care
Caring for a child is never-ending work, and it’s easy to leave yourself out of the equation. What gives you the energy to be the mom you want to be? Or to feel like you again? There are healthy ways to recharge and bring yourself back to being you. An occupational therapist can help you figure out, no matter how small (or how large) how to balance self care with baby care.
Support for
Sensory Overwhelm
Do you feel touched out just with the thought of your baby grabbing for you again? Are the cries and sounds from the TV causing you to lose your temper? Are the scattered toys and bright lights making your eyes cross? You may be experiencing sensory overload. Maternal health occupational therapists can help you learn how your sensory system is connected to your emotions and give you the ability to soothe (or rev up!) your mind, and how to figure out a solution that makes you feel grounded and ready to respond.
